A middle aged man from West Bengal was suffering from a fatal disease called โAbdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)โ. Here the wall of the abdominal aorta (the major blood pipe of our body) gets thinner and the it expands like a balloon. This can lead to rupture and sudden death if left untreated.
Happy to share that we have done successful percutaneous treatment known as โEndovascular Aortic Repair (EVAR)โ in this patient. It involves putting covered stent graft across the aortic aneurysm so that the ballooned sac is excluded from the new aortic lumen and chance of aortic rupture is almost diminished.
The patient was discharged in stable condition.
